Negro ficha por La Castanya, publicamos "Formación del Espíritu Nacional"

Negro nos presenta Formación del Espíritu Nacional, su segundo LP, que será editado por La Castanya. 

Negro es el proyecto en solitario de Fernando Junquera, con residencia en Valencia y una gran actividad musical a lo largo de los últimos 10 años, donde se le ha podido ver en grupos como Balano, Sachicha y Estrategia Lo Capto! y más recientemente en proyectos de improvisación como La Orquesta del Caballo Ganador.

Formación del Espíritu Nacional ha sido grabado por Pablo Perió —bajista de los grandes Betunizer— en su estudio Sountess y masterizado por Victor Garcia en Ultramarinos Mastering. Un disco donde Fernando nos guía por este mundo a base de punteos y pasajes que construye únicamente con su guitarra eléctrica enchufada a un amplificador. Canciones instrumentales, algunas con sonidos de ambiente recogidos en la calle y con títulos que nos hacen soñar y también, porqué no, ver la cruda realidad. Si de alguna cosa estamos seguros es de que el 2013 será Negro.

"Paz y permanecia" es el primer adelanto de Formación del Espíritu Nacional que verá la luz a finales de febrero de 2013.

El próximo 9 de octubre La Castanya edita Holy Slap, el primer LP —después de una maqueta y dos EPs— del trio de Girona Aliment. Ese mismo mes el grupo presentará el disco con una gira de diez fechas por toda la península —del 18 al 27 de octubre— tocando junto a los americanos Obits (Sub Pop / Nueva York). En breve anunciaremos todos los detalles de una gira que promete ser una fiesta.

Aliment se consolidan como una de las bandas más interesantes del panorama punk rock estatal con la colección de zurriagazos que es Holy Slap. Once canciones grabadas con los puños apretados y la frente sudorosa que los emparentan con bandas contemporáneas amigas de la melodía y el descontrol como Thee Oh Sees, Jay Reatard o Wavves y referentes más antiguos como Adolescents, Circle Jerks o incluso The Sonics. Once  viscerales composiciones que se acercan y se alejan de la luz alternativamente, te agitan el pelo como si fueras en un descapotable y que te ponen mariposas en el estómago. Canciones que hablan de mí y de ti, y de ellas. Ese estado mental que te envalentona y te hace pedir otro Gin Tonic más cuando casi no puedes decir tu nombre. Quizá dentro de veinte años pediremos una horchata; ahora queremos escuchar a Aliment.

Next october 9th La Castanya will release Holy Slap, the first LP —after a demo and two EPs— by the Girona trio Aliment. That same month Aliment will present the record with a ten dates spanish tour —from october 18th until the 27th— along with the american band Obits (Sub Pop / New York City). Aliment confirm themselves as one of the most interesting bands in the Spanish punk rock scene with the collection of mind blowing slaps-in-your-face that is Holy Slap. Eleven songs recorded with their fists firmly clenched and sweat in their foreheads that connect them directly with melody and frenzy friendly contemporary bands such as Thee Oh Sees, Jay Reatard or Wavves as well as more vintage influences such as Adolescents, Circle Jerks and even The Sonics. Eleven gut drenched tracks that alternatively come close to and run away from the light, shake your hair like you were speeding in a convertible and bring butterflies to your stomach. Songs that talk about you and me, and about them ladies. They put you in that state of mind that fills you with courage and makes you ask for another gin and tonic when you can hardly say your own name any more. Maybe in 20 years time we’ll drink sarsaparilla; right now we want to listen to Aliment.

We are glad to announce that Rebecca Gates is joining La Castanya family. We will release in Europe The Float, her forthcoming album, and we will handle the booking of her shows across the continent.

Rebecca Gates has been in the world of music for twenty years now and is recognized for being The Spinanes singer and songwriter, one of the most unique bands of the nineties. Sub Pop released their three albums and they toured with bands like Fugazi and Stereolab. Throughout her career Gates has always been involved in music and art and has collaborated with musicians such as Elliott Smith, Laetitia Sadier or Ted Leo and bands like The Decemberists and Joan Of Arc.

We had to wait eleven years, since the release of Ruby Series in 2001, to hear the new compositions of catchy pop music and post-rock arrangements that can be found in The Float (La Castanya / Parcematone / 12UX, 2012). The album has been recorded throughout the United States and features exceptional musicians like Doug McCombs (Tortoise), John McEntire (Tortoise, The Sea and Cake), Nate Query (The Decemberists), Joanna Bolme (Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, Quasi), Thierry Amar (Godspeed You Black Emperor!, Silver Mt Zion), Rebecca Cole (Wild Flag), Gary Jarman (The Cribs), Joe Adamik (Califone) and Tim Rutili (Califone, Ugly Casanova) among others.

On stage, Rebecca surrounds herself with a unit called The Consortium, formed at different times by some of her best friends: Ji Tanzer (Blue Cranes), Joanna Bolme (The Jicks, Quasi), Rebecca Cole (Wild Flag), Nate Query (The Decemberists), Jenny Drizos (The Decemberists), Amy Domingues (Garland of Hours) or Dave Depper (Loch Lomond, Blue Giant).
