The Zephyr Bones are a surfer–psych–pop band based in Barcelona, named after a skater society from the 70s. Having moved from Chile to Spain to start a band, the four–piece of Brian, Jossip, Marc and Nico have their own studio in Barcelona called Big Beat Big Waves. Their music is full of summery beach vibes and the sea is a huge inspiration to them, drawing on the never–ending sunsets, all roads leading to the ocean. They draw inspiration from US bands such DIIV, The Drums, Wild Nothing, Real Estate, Beach Fossils and Beach House, using skeletal rhythms, sparse instrumentation and shimmering synthesizers to create delightfully danceable melodies.

Following on from their debut four–track EP Wishes/Fishes, released by La Castanya in July of 2014, the band return with their first international release, a double AA side 7" single to be released by La Castanya in conjunction with New York's Other Music and Record Store Day Spain. Black Lips could easily pass for one of the best tunes by DIIV, with a summery California–style vocal melody, while Surrounded by Sunflowers is reminiscent of tracks from Tame Impala's Inner Speaker.

The Zephyr Bones son un grupo de psych–pop surfero residentes en Barcelona que toma su nombre de una agrupación skater de los años 70. Originarios de Chile, Brian y Jossip se juntan en España con Marc y Nico y crean su propio estudio Big Beat Big Waves en Barcelona. Sus composiciones se colocan sin esfuerzo del lado del dream pop y la nueva ola de la nueva ola, hablando el mismo lenguaje compositivo de grupos como The Drums, Wild Nothing, Real Estate, Beach Fossils o incluso Beach House, es decir: instrumentos con espacio, ritmos esqueléticos, sintetizadores plateados y la melodía de una voz que más que cantar parece surfear sobre las canciones, en un baile lento y nada agitado que consigue serenar y arropar al mismo tiempo.

Tras una cassette de 4 canciones llamada Wishes/Fishes editada por La Castanya en julio de 2014, el grupo vuelve con su primer lanzamiento internacional, un single de 7 pulgadas de la mano de La Castanya junto al sello de Nueva York Other Music y Record Store Day Spain. Black Lips podría pasar por uno de los mejores temas de DIIV, con una melodía vocal por la que les deberían dar de manera automática el permiso de residencia californiano; mientras, Surrounded by Sunflowers podría haber aparecido entre las tres canciones más escuchadas del disco Inner Speaker de Tame Impala y nadie hubiera puesto el grito en el cielo.
